6/24/2014 - U.S. AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Academy played host to the Colorado wing of the Civil Air Patrol June 14 - 21 during its Summer Encampment, an annual week-long event to enhance a leadership and team-building.
While here, the junior CAP cadets received a refresher course in marching and military customs and courtesies, toured the academic facilities and cadet area, and tackled the ropes course in Jacks Valley.
Civil Air Patrol senior cadets led and organized the training.
"We turn all of the training over to senior CAP cadets," said CAP Lt. Col. Buddy McCormick, the encampment commander. "(CAP officers) only provide guidance, oversight and safety - our primary concern."
Junior CAP cadets are encouraged to attend an encampment early in their career as it allows for promotion, McCormick said.
